Marc Bachman threw a complete game as the Rocky Mountain High School baseball team beat Boulder 8-1 on Tuesday at Gabe Pando Park at Rocky Mountain High School.
Rocky Mountain (8-5, 5-2 Class 5A Front Range League) got two doubles from New Mexico signee Tyler Stevens, who was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Bachman, a Dartmouth signee, got the win for the Lobos, pitching seven innings and allowing five hits while striking out seven. The Lobos are ranked 10th in the latest Colorado Associated Press 5A baseball poll.
Boulder (7-9, 2-5 FRL) got its lone run in the top of the third inning. Grant Rogers picked up the loss. The Lobos also got a three-run homer from Trevor Thomas in the bottom of the third.
FOSSIL RIDGE 5, HORIZON 2: Codi Heuer had 10 strikeouts in five innings as Fossil Ridge topped Horizon in a road game.
Fossil Ridge (8-7, 2-5 FRL) also had 14 hits, including two solo home runs from University of Northern Colorado signee Payton Tapia. But the SaberCats left eight on base. Heuer stranded 12 Horizon runners, as the Hawks fell to 7-8, including 3-4 in FRL play.
MOUNTAIN RANGE 6, FORT COLLINS 1: Blake Tomasino hit a solo shot in the fourth for one of the Lambkins’ three hits in a home loss to Mountain Range.
Fort Collins (4-9, 2-5 FRL) had Patrick Kline take the loss, and the Lambkins picked up five errors behind him. Mountain Range (8-7, 4-3 FRL) got the win from Noah Draper. Mountain Range had 10 hits.
FAIRVIEW 15, POUDRE 0: Fairview piled up 17 hits to Poudre’s two in a six-inning game cut short by the run rule.
Poudre (4-10, 1-6 FRL) had James Belk with the loss, as Ryan Madden picked up the win for Front Range League leading and fourth-ranked Fairview (14-1, 7-0 FRL).
LIBERTY COMMON 4, ALEXANDER DAWSON 2: A pitchers’ dual favored Liberty Common’s Austin Geary, who picked up the win in a complete game despite allowing three doubles.
Liberty Common (6-8, 3-2 2A Mile High League) got a double from Elijah Smith, and the Eagles patched together two runs each in the first and fifth innings. Alexander Dawson (5-8, 1-3 MHL) had Chris Slade pick up the loss. Slade pitched in with two doubles. Both Slade and Geary pitched complete games, allowing a combined 13 hits between them.
RESURRECTION CHRISTIAN 16, LONGMONT CHRISTIAN 1: Five Resurrection Christian players had multiple hits as 2A’s second-ranked Cougars pounced on the home team, Longmont Christian.
Resurrection Christian (12-2, 7-0 MHL) got 14 hits and took advantage of seven Longmont Christian errors. Nathan Wiggins picked up the win and Austin Fineberg took the loss for Longmont Christian (4-8, 0-5 MHL).
FOSSIL RIDGE 1, MONARCH 0: Claire Parker scored a first-half goal and goalie Diana Meredith had eight saves as Fossil Ridge topped Monarch on the road.
Fossil Ridge (8-0-2, 6-0-1 FRL) had Isabella Anders pick up the assist for Parker, and Meredith got her fifth shutout. Monarch fell to 6-5-1, including 5-2-1 in FRL play, and Fossil Ridge (No. 5 according to CHSAANow.com) remains the lone undefeated team in 5A.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN 1, MOUNTAIN RANGE 0: Courtnie Joseph scored a second-half goal for the home Lobos in a conference win against Mountain Range.
Rocky Mountain (4-5-2, 4-3-1 FRL) had goalie Taylor Guzzardo pick up four saves in the win. Mountain Range falls to 7-5, including 5-3 in FRL play.
LIBERTY COMMON 7, BELLEVIEW CHRISTIAN 0: Three Liberty Common players scored two goals apiece as Liberty Common cruised to a league win at home.
Liberty Common (7-2-1, 4-1-1 3A Region 7) got two goals from Olivia Bachelet, Kayla Rhoads and Liz Yeh. Sarah Schaffer added one of her own as well as an assist, and the Eagles shut out Belleview Christian (2-4, 2-4 Region 7).
HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 2, LONGMONT CHRISTIAN 1: Micaela Bush had two goals as Heritage Christian topped Longmont Christian in a home game.
Heritage Christian (6-4, 2-4 Region 7) scored in both halves and shut out Longmont Christian (2-7, 0-7 Region 7) in the second half. Ellie Beery had an assist for Heritage Christian, and Michele Kronenberg was huge with 10 saves, including one on a penalty kick.
POUDRE 3, HORIZON 0: Allie Gray had two goals and Anne Lonowski added another as the Impalas won a home game against Horizon at Fossil Ridge High School.
Poudre (3-8, 2-6 FRL) stopped a six-game skid with the shutout win, and pushed Horizon to 2-9-1, including 1-6-1 in FRL play. Rachel Banister got the shutout in goal for Poudre.
FAIRVIEW 3, FORT COLLINS 1: The Lambkins lost their fourth straight, falling to fourth-ranked Fairview at French Field.
Fairview improves to 10-1, including 7-0 in FRL play, while Fort Collins falls to 2-9, including 2-5 in FRL.
WINDSOR 20, DENVER SOUTH 15: The Wizards scored the most in a scoring frenzy on the road to pull closer to a .500 record.
Windsor (5-6) bounced back from a 15-8 home loss to Steamboat Springs. Denver South (4-7) bounced back to earth after a 17-0 win against Bishop Machebeuf.
