SPASH 7, Sun Prairie 0

SUN PRAIRIE – Panthers coach Gary Baier would have a tough choice trying to decide whether the play of his singles players or doubles teams made him happier.

And those are good decisions to have to make because SPASH was dominant up and down the lineup in not dropping a set to the Cardinals.

Senior Bradley Luetschwager opened his bid for yet another trip to the WIAA state meet with a routine 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Meanwhile, Jon Peck endured the toughest match, needed a tie-breaker in the first set before prevailing 7-6, 6-3.

Roncalli 4, Pacelli 3

MANITOWOC – The Cardinals received strong performances from Pat Rath and Luke Yenter at No. 2 doubles and the No. 3 doubles tandem of Austin Mansavage and Zach Brocken, but couldn’t overcome dominant singles play by the Jets in their season-opening dual meet.

Greg Irwin picked up the lone singles win for Pacelli.
