Prep softball roundup: Grimm lifts Reedsville past Roncalli


Riley Grimm’s two-run triple in the bottom of the seventh lifted the Reedsville softball team to a 6-5 win over visiting Roncalli in an Olympian Conference game on Tuesday afternoon.

Trailing 2-1 in the home half of the third, the Panthers knotted the game at two apiece when Hannah Roffers scored on a wild pitch. However, the Jets scored two of their own in the top of the fourth and tacked on another in the sixth to push their advantage to 5-2.

Reedsville drew within one in the bottom of the sixth when Grimm and Sammy Van Ells each scored on ground outs.

Grimm’s one-out triple in the home half of the seventh scored Roffers and Brenna Kiekhaefer, giving the Panthers the win.

Grimm finished the game 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and 2 RBIs.

Lydia Soodsma went 1-for-4 with two RBIs for Roncalli.

Tiffany Abts took the loss, allowing four earned runs on five hits and striking out four in six-plus innings of work.

Chloe Sebo earned the win. She surrendered just one earned run in seven innings and struck out three.

Man. Lutheran 12, Valders 2 (5)

The visiting Lancers went up 6-1 and never looked back as Lutheran’s MacKayla Menges held the Vikings to one earned run over five innings on five hits for the win.

Kaitlin Radue led the Lancers by going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Taking the loss for Valders was Brittnay Erickson, who threw five innings and surrendered eight hits.

Nichole Linsmeier was 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Vikings.

Man. Lincoln 11, GB West 7

Sabrina Luedtke (1-for-4) hit a three-run homer in the fourth while teammate Jaydin Grenier went 3-for-4 with three RBIs to pace the host Ships past the Wildcats.

Lincoln scored six runs in the bottom of the first before adding four more in the fourth and never looked back.

Earning the win for the Ships was Kaitlin Sukowaty, throwing four innings of relief and allowed four runs on eight hits with six strikeouts compared to just one walk.

Also for Lincoln Lainey Braun (3-for-4) stole three bases.
