The Roncalli softball team found itself trailing 16-8 in the home half of the sixth inning of Friday night’s game against Manitowoc Lutheran.
The Jets promptly exploded for eight runs to tie the game at 16 apiece. Roncalli pushed across the game-winning run in the next inning to earn the 17-16 Olympian Conference win.
The two teams combined pounded out 27 hits.
McKenzie Miller led the charge offensively for the Jets with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, driving in four runs. Hannah Severin and Erin Jagemann each had two RBIs.
Lutheran’s Lindsay Engelbrecht finished the night 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Kelsey Fels and Rachel Gries each went 2-for-3. Gries drove in two and Fels drove in one.
Tiffany Abts picked up the win for Roncalli. She pitched six innings and struck two and surrendered 11 hits.
MacKayla Menges took the loss for Lutheran. She tossed all seven innings, and allowed 13 hits.

An eight-run third inning lifted the visiting Panthers to an 11-1 win in an OC game.
The Panthers’ impressive inning was highlighted by a pair of RBI singles from Brenna Kiekhaefer. She finished the game with 3 RBIs.
Hannah Roffers went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and a walk. Jill Kocian drove in three runs of her own.
Katie Ziemer got the win, striking out five in five innings of work and allowing six hits.
