Former Two Rivers wrestling standout Ty Pelot took second place at 126 pounds at the USA Wrestling junior greco regional tournament in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Pelot and Manitowoc Lincoln’s Jose Acosta, who placed fourth, were each wrestling for the X-Factor Elite Wrestling Club which operates in Manitowoc.

Pelot went 3-0 on the day before falling to Austin Lister (Oregon) 6-1 in the championship match.

Acosta, who was also competing at 126 pounds, fell to Lister in the opening round. Acosta bounced back, winning by technical fall in the next match before rattling off a streak of three consecutive pins to reach the third-place match where he fell to Michael Murphy (Tennessee) 10-0.

Pelot competed in FILA junior greco competition on Thursday and had secured All-American status. Meanwhile, Acosta was in action in junior freestyle regional competition.
