Three individual champions helped the Reedsville wrestling team to a second-place finish at the Olympian Conference tournament at Roncalli high school on Saturday.
Mitch Schwahn topped Valders’ Alemayehu Lehman 6-1 to take top honors for the Panthers at 120 pounds while teammate Elliott Ebert (160) won by major decision over Brandon Buechler (Wrightstown) to claim championship. At 170, the Panthers’ Grant Wedepohl won by injury default.
Mishicot led all area schools with five individual champions starting with Kyle Hutterer (126), who recorded a win by major decision over Wrightstown’s Brady Maes in the title match.
In the 138-pound championship, the Indians’ Weston Cracraft edged Ben Klister (Wrightstown) 4-2 and teammate Boone Young took first at 145 for Mishicot, downing Austin Keuler of Chilton/Hilbert 5-4. Rounding out the champions for Mishicot, Mason Matthias edged Wrightstown’s Bryce Herlache 5-3 to finish first at 152 and Jon Brendemuehl (285) knocked off Reedsville’s Jordan Brandt 3-2 for the title.
The Indians placed third in the team standings.
In the 195-pound final, Valders’ Brandon Brennan pinned Grant Mauer (Chilton/Hilbert) in 3:11 to provide the Vikings, who finished fifth as a team, with their lone individual championship.
Also from the area, Christian Bradley (113) and Alex Stubbe (120) led the charge for the Manitowoc Lutheran/Roncalli co-op as each finished fourth in their weight class.
