It should come as no surprise that school records are falling by the wayside around two Western North Carolina seniors.
Franklin linebacker/running back Jeremiah Young only needs eight more tackles to surpass the Panthers’ career record (283). The record is four years old and currently belongs to DeWayne Isaacs.
Young and the Panthers (2-0) travel to Swain County (3-0) on Friday for a matchup between two of the remaining nine undefeated football teams in WNC.
Hendersonville wide receiver Cole Cleary got a couple records out of the way Friday night.
Cleary had the Bearcats’ best-ever single-game totals for receptions (10) and receiving yards (235) in a 44-26 home win over East Henderson.
Cleary and Hendersonville (2-1) have a chance to win the unofficial Henderson County championship Friday when they travel to North Henderson (0-2). The Bearcats have already beaten East Henderson and West Henderson.
