Recruiters contact 2016 standouts Wright, Beverly

Two of Kentucky’s top Class of 2016 basketball players – Apollo shooting guard Eli Wright and Perry County Central point guard Braxton Beverly – heard from multiple college coaches on Sunday, the first day recruiters could begin calling or texting juniors-to-be on an unlimited basis.

The 6-foot-5 Wright, who made a visit to Louisville last Wednesday, said he received a scholarship offer from Winthrop and also heard from coaches at U of L Indiana, Mississippi State,Purdue, Florida Gulf Coast, UAB and Western kentucky.

Wright now has scholarship offers from WKU, UAB, Mississippi State, Eastern Kentucky and Northern Kentucky.

The 5-foot-11 Beverly said he heard from Butler, Virginia, Minnesota, Princeton, George Washington, WKU, North Carolina-Wilmington and Miami (Ohio).

Beverly has offers from WKU, NKU, Samford, Marshall, Kentucky Wesleyan and Cleveland State.

Taylor County point guard Quentin Goodin, the state’s highest-ranked player in the 2016, also had a busy Sunday, receiving an offer from Michigan and fielding calls or text messages from Louisville, Indiana and several other teams.
