Oh, no, it’s playing out in the recruiting world, too.
The Spartans’ highest-rated commitment in the 2014 class is running back L.J. Scott of Hubbard, Ohio. He’s rated as a four-star prospect. And Ohio State wanted him.
Check that. Wants him.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Buckeyes are still aggressively courting Scott. Verbal commitments are nonbinding until national letters of intent are signed in February.
Scott says he’s planning to visit Ohio State this fall, possibly for the Michigan game at the end of the month.
“I think I am prepared, but I’m probably not, because (Ohio State) is going to be hitting me pretty hard,” Scott told the Plain Dealer. “I just am going to do what’s best for me. I won’t turn them down or just ignore them or anything. I’ll still show them the respect and take a visit and everything if they want me up there. They want to talk to my mom as well, so I’ll show the respect and take a visit.”
That said, Scott also will be at Spartan Stadium for Saturday’s showdown (8 p.m., ABC) between the programs. Asked what color he’ll be wearing on the sideline, he laughed:
Note: The Golden State Warriors stomped the Los Angeles Clippers, 121-104, on Wednesday night, and the Western Conference’s newest great rivalry took a turn for the weird when former Spartan Draymond Green stuck his tongue out at Clippers star Blake Griffin while running up the court. At first, it looks like a Michael Jordan tongue wag, but then it lingers, and he gets a little too close:
