It’s February, which means some Ohio High School Athletic Association winter sports postseason tournaments are already underway and the rest will begin in the coming days and weeks.
Massillon Perry claims Div. I team wrestling state title
The OHSAA dual team wrestling state tournament was held on Saturday at Ohio St. University’s St. John Arena
Massillon Perry defeated Brecksville-Broadview Heights 48-9 in the Division I state final to claim the title.
St. Paris Graham defeated Uhrichsville Claymont 35-24 in the Division II state final to claim the title, and Delta defeated Dayton Christian 40-26 in Division III’s championship round.
Ice hockey: GCHSHL and GLHL crown champs
The OHSAA ice hockey state tournaments are set to begin this week, but four area teams have already collected championship hardware. On Sunday, the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League crowned its three Baron Cup winners and the Great Lakes Hockey League decided the winner of its inaugural Cleveland Cup.
West Geauga shut out Parma 6-0 to win the Baron Cup III title.
Western Reserve Academy defeated Avon 3-1 to win the Baron Cup II title.
Rocky River edged Shaker Heights 2-1 to win the Baron Cup I title.
St. Ignatius defeated University School 4-2 to be crowned the first-ever GLHL tournament champions and to claim the coveted Cleveland Cup.
