Richmond High School expects to have a new athletic director in place before this month is over.
“The Richmond High School athletic director position will be recommended for approval at the school board meeting on Aug. 27,” RHS principal Rae Woolpy said Friday. The candidate for the position was not named.
Richmond seeks to replace Chad Bolser, whose final official day as the Red Devils’ athletic director was Friday. Bolser was named as president of Ivy Tech Community College’s Richmond and Connersville campuses in July.
Bolser had been the RHS athletic director for six years. He replaced Chris Rodal in August 2008.
Jeremy Hill is currently the interim athletic director.
“It’s business as usual. We have a great team, a great group of people who work in there,” Hill said. “We’re really just doing the same thing we always do. We’ll just hold down the fort until the new person gets here.”
While the girls golf season started in the beginning of this month, Richmond’s other fall sports start in the coming week, including home events for volleyball and boys soccer Monday.
Richmond’s first home football game is Aug. 29 vs. New Palestine. The Red Devils had a scrimmage Friday night against Pendleton Heights.
“The season is going well. Everything is running like it should,” Hill said. “Chad left it in great shape. Everything is scheduled, so it’s just covering events and making sure everything is set up.”
