Women’s Basketball Signs Local Three-Sport Star
ASHEVILLE, NC – Head coach Robin Martin has announced the signing of Kelia McCurry from TC Roberson High School in Asheville.
“I am very excited to be attending Warren Wilson College and joining the women’s basketball team,” McCurry said. “I am also thrilled to be playing close to home (Asheville) where my family and friends are still near by.”
McCurry comes to Warren Wilson a decorated athlete who lettered 11 times at TC Roberson. McCurry was a four year starter on the Rams varsity basketball team. She also starred on the school’s softball team, where was all-conference and all-state two times. McCurry also played volleyball for the Rams.
McCurry was the Rams 2014 female athlete of the year in team sports in her senior season. On the basketball court her efforts gained her the Most Valuable Offensive Player from her team.
McCurry was a consistent scoring threat for TC Robinson. “We are excited to have Keila join our program here,.” coach Robin Martian said. “She is a great local pick up and brings years of experience to the point guard position. She will make an immediate impact right away.”
McCurry is expected to help fill the outside scoring threat for Warren Wilson vacated by Dani Henderson. The Owls first year coach Robin Martian has already welcomed two major recruits since taking over the program last month.
