Rocky River senior wants to follow in pros' footsteps

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — “That’s big time football,” Rocky River senior corner back Jaire Alexander says.

Is there any other kind of football in the SEC?

Alexander’s going to find out next fall.

“Coach always said big time athletes play big time football, and that’s where I’m headed – to play big time football.”

Alexander’s big time play as a junior led the Ravens to their first ever conference football championship. And it served as an eye opening experience for his teammates.

“Everybody sees Jaire doing well. His leadership motivates the team and everybody to work hard,” says quarterback Naiil Ramadan.

Alexander’s motivation? A couple guys from Rock Hill now in the league.

There’s current NFL Rookie Jadeveon Clowney, and a guy who excels at the same defensive position as Jaire, Stephon Gilmore.

“I’m trying to do the exact same things they were trying to do and trying to get better.”

He’ll have that opportunity this fall as Rocky River aims for a Raven repeat.
