Sophomore center Mikal Fearon had a strong second half and junior guard Tyquis Davis had a productive first half as the duo led the Asbury Park boys basketball team to a 65-55 Class B Central victory over visiting Keansburg on Monday.

Fearon tallied 14 of his team-high 20 points in the second half and Davis had seven of his 15 points in the first half for the Blue Bishops (1-5, 1-3).

For Keansburg (0-7, 0-5), senior guard Kason Preston scored nine of his game-high 28 points in the third quarter and senior forward Shawn Woods added eight of his 13 points in the fourth quarter.

RED BANK CATHOLIC 81, SHORE 75: Sophomore guards Eddie Hahn and Evan Madigan finished with 29 and 20 points, respectively, as the Caseys (5-3, 3-1) defeated the No. 8 Blue Devils (5-4, 2-2) in a Class A Central game. Senior guard Dan Pillari had a team-high 25 points and junior forward Dan Largey added 19 points.

CENTRAL 71, JACKSON LIBERTY 62: Senior guard Stefano Minale scored 10 of his team-high 18 points in the fourth quarter and junior forward Schuyler Smith added 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Golden Eagles defeated the Lions in a Class B South game.

Central (2-5, 1-3) went 8-for-9 from the foul line in the fourth quarter with Minale leading the way on 4-for-5 shooting. Sophomore guard Riley Collins added 14 points, with nine coming in the fourth quarter on three 3-pointers.

For Jackson Liberty (4-3, 2-2), senior forward Mike Healy scored 13 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter and senior forward James Sofield added nine of his 15 points in the first half.

LAKEWOOD 59, MON. DONOVAN 55: Senior guard Dan Niblack scored nine of his game-high 17 points in the first half and senior forward Ben Watson added eight of his 12 points in the second half as the No. 2 Piners (6-2, 4-0) defeated the visiting Griffins (6-3, 3-1) in a Class B South game.

Monsignor Donovan senior forward Tom Cermani had seven of his 12 points in the first half and senior guard Sean Suskevich had six of his 10 points in the first half.

MATAWAN 69, WALL 46: Senior guard Chris Tawiah had 17 points and six rebounds and senior center Dritan Gyjrigi added 13 points and seven rebounds as the No. 4 Huskies (8-1, 3-0) defeated the Crimson Knights (4-4, 1-2) in a Class B North game. Senior forward Austen Planes added 10 points. Wall junior guard Trent Mitchell had a team-high 11 points.

BRICK MEMORIAL 47, SOUTHERN 41 (OT): Junior guard Aaron Schiederman and senior forward Mike Basile both scored 13 points leading the Mustangs over the Rams in a Class A South game. The Mustangs outscored the Rams 10-4 in overtime.

IN GIRLS BASKETBALL

MANALAPAN 69, HOWELL 63 (OT): Samantha Meier finished with a team-high 27 points leading the Braves (5-2, 1-1) to their first Class A North win this season over the Rebels (3-4, 1-3). After jumping out to a lead at the end of the first quarter, the Rebels stormed back by outscoring the Braves 22-13 in the fourth quarter and sending the game into overtime. However, the Braves answered back in overtime by outscoring the Rebels 10-4.

Kelly McNulty scored 20 points for the Braves. Gabby Greene scored a team-high 25 points for the Rebels.

TR SOUTH 44, TR EAST 37: Senior Andrea Eckholt had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds leading the Indians (5-3) over the Raiders (4-3) in a Class A South game.

Victoria Alvarez scored seven points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Indians.

WALL 61, MATAWAN 51: Sydney Darby scored a team-high 22 points leading the Crimson Knights over the Huskies in a Class B North game.

Ellen Dougherty added 16 points for the Crimson Knights. Tracey Brereton finished with a team-high 30 points for the Huskies.

KEANSBURG 52, ASBURY PARK 45: Stephanie Walters finished with a team-high 24 points leading the Titans over the Bishops in a Class B Central game. Walters hit six of her nine field goals from behind the arc, and teammate Ashley Andalora finished with 11 points for the Titans.

Porschia Witherspoon finished with 13 points for the Bishops.

POINT BORO 54, PINELANDS 47: Brielle Barber scored 10 of her team-high 17 points in the second half leading the Panthers (4-3) over the Wildacts (3-4) in a Class B South game. Lindsey Havens added eight points for the Panthers.

Bailey Kidd socred seven of her team-high 13 points in the first quarter for the Wildcats.

IN ICE HOCKEY

OCEAN 5, WOODBRIDGE 3: Ocean’s Andrew Schulz recorded the 100th point of his career with a first-period goal assisted by David Newcomb and his brother Matt Schulz, who eclipsed the century mark on Friday, as the No. 9 Spartans (8-2-2) moved past the Barrons (5-4-0) in a nonconference game. Andrew Schulz finished with four goals and now has 14 on the season to move into fifth place among Shore Conference scorers with 32 points, while Matt Schulz delivered four assists and moved into third place in scoring with 35 points. David Newcomb assisted on three of Schulz’s tallies while Tyler Harlow provided the fifth Spartans goal.

JACKSON MEM. 3, BRICK MEM. 1: Jackson Memorial’s Chris Petrone scored a pair of goals while teammate Kyle Sampson netted what proved to be the game-winning goal in the second period as the No. 7 Jaguars (6-3-0) edged the Mustangs (3-6-1) in a Class A South game. Brick Memorial’s Ryan Mon tied the game at 1 early in the second period, however, that was the only goal allowed by T.J. Skodmin, who stopped 21 shots to secure the victory. Mustangs netminder Tim Schiess made 32 saves.
