The North Salinas High girls basketball team remained unbeaten in the Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division, defeating notre Dame 58-36 on Tuesday night at home.
With the win, North Salinas improved to 18-2 overall and 8-0 in the division.
The Vikings are 8-0 at home and extended their home streak to 14 in a row dating back to last season.
The Vikings have won 16 consecutive divisional contests.
North Salinas went up by 10 after one and kept the lead in double digits into the intermission.
Alyssa Springs led North Salinas with 23 points. Sarah Nino scored nine points for Notre Dame.
Alisal 54, Watsonville 27: At Alisal, the Trojans defeated Watsonville to improve to 8-0 in the MBL Pacific Division.
Brittany Valdez scored 12 points, and Natosha Castro had 11 points.
Alisal next plays Monte Vista Christian on Thursday.
Monte Vista Christian 62, Seaside 49: At Seaside, the Mustangs stayed in the hunt in the MBL Gabilan Division by defeating the Spartans.
The win boosted Monte Vista Christian to 14-5 overall and 6-2 in the Gabilan Division. Seaside dropped to 8-10 overall and 2-6 in the division.
Ali Briscoe powered Seaside with 21 points, Keia Scott-Mitchell finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Monte Vista Christian’s Donatella McLeod and Myckenzie Toler each had 15 points.
Alvarez 48, Pajaro Valley 34: At Alvarez, the Eagles made the most of their one game this week, defeating the Grizzlies.
The loss ended a three-game losing streak as Alvarez improved to 4-4 in the MBL Pacific Division.
Deaysia Gamble and Ana Ceja each scored 12 points for Alvarez.
The Eagles return to action in a week against Monterey.
Gilroy 60, Monterey 20: At Gilroy, the Mustangs kept Monterey off the boards early and often in the MBL Pacific Division win.
Gilroy improved to 6-1 in the division.
Nyah Adams led Monterey with 11 points.
Salinas 33, Hollister 29: At Hollister, the Cowboys grinded out a win against the Haybalers.
It’s the fifth time this season Salinas has allowed fewer than 30 points to an opponent.
Marissa Hernandez scored 11 points, while Maya Orozco and Rebecca Interrante each scored six points.
Salinas travels to Watsonville to play Monte Vista Christian on Thursday.
Monterey 2, North Salinas 0: At North Salinas, the Toreadores blanked the Vikings to pick up their third shutout in a row.
The win boosted Monterey to 6-0-2 in the MBL Pacific Division and 10-2-2 overall.
The Toreadores are the third county team to reach 10 wins this season.
Both teams did not have too many shots on goal, but Monterey scored on two breakaways by Hyunsik Lee.
The shutout was Monterey’s sixth in seven games.
North Salinas fell to 4-8-3 overall and 3-4-1 in the division.
Monterey takes on Christopher on Thursday, while North Salinas travels to Rabobank Stadium to play Palma.
Seaside 1, Palma 0: At Seaside, the Chieftains were denied a chance to move back to .500 overall thanks to a goal in the eighth minute by Juan Morales.
Edwin Hernandez assisted on Morales’ goal. Francisco Contreras made two saves in preserving Seaside’s shutout.
Palma goalkeeper Steven Johnsen made five saves. Branden Werner had two shots on goal.
Palma travels to Christopher on Thursday.
Soledad 2, York 0: At Soledad, the Aztecs remained unbeaten on the season with the shutout of the Falcons on Tuesday.
With the win, Soledad improved to 13-0-2 overall and 8-0-1 in the Mission Trail Athletic League.
The Aztecs take on King City today.
Alvarez 4, North Monterey County 0: At Alvarez, the Eagles picked up the shutout over the Condors with three different players scoring.
Freshman Ricardo Sosa scored two goals, while Christian Santivan and Chris Marinez each scored a goal.
Alvarez goalkeeper Luis Tinoco made one save.
Alvarez takes on rival Alisal on Thursday night.
Alisal 2, Pajaro Valley 0: At Watsonville, the Trojans blanked the Grizzlies, allowing one shot at Alisal goalkeeper Andres Camacho, which he saved.
Luis Duenas put Alisal ahead 1-0 on a free kick from about 20 yards away, hitting the corner of the net. Benito Chavez then scored on an assist from Adrian Serrato.
Alisal remained unbeaten on the season at 7-0-1 in the MBL Gabilan Division.
The Trojans face rival Alvarez on Thursday.
