Senior center Ben Watson’s 15 points and 12 rebounds led the host Lakewood High School boys basketball team past Point Pleasant Boro 51-48 in a Shore Conference Class B South game on Tuedsay.

Sophomore guard Amir Tyler and senior guard-forward Dan Niblack added 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the Piners (11-3, 8-0).

Lakewood entered the fourth quarter trailing the Panthers 37-27. The Piners rallied as Tyler and Niblack struck for seven and five points, respectively.

Sophomore forward Peyton Wejnert paced the Panthers (6-5, 5-2) with 21 points.

MANCHESTER 58, LACEY 45: Senior guard Darius Barlow’s 21 points led the Hawks (9-5) past the Lions (5-7) in non-divisional play.

Barlow bombed home five treys as the Hawks took a 45-21 halftime lead.

HOWELL 62, MANALAPAN 56: Junior guard Aaron Trimble netted a game-high 19 points to lead the Rebels (5-8, 2-6) past the Braves (5-7, 2-5) in Class A North.

Trimble scored eight in the second quarter, keying a 17-13 ouytput and powering the Rebels to a 28-23 halftime lead. Howell junior guard Zack Royner, who scored 10 points, buried four of four free throw’s in the game’s final minute, holding off the Braves.

Greg Lacko of Freehold Township rolled a 300 at Howell Lanes.

BARNEGAT 103, LACEY 67: Billy Breunig and Joshua Aguilar each won two events, leading the Bengals past the Lions in Class B South.

Breunig took the 200 (2:04.07) and 500-yard freestyles (5:44.67). Aguilar won the 200 individual medley (2:24.93) and 100 backstroke (1:04.05). Lacey’s Ben Smith snared the 100 butterfly (59.53) and 100 freestyle (54.45).

SHORE 84, LONG BRANCH 84: The Blue Devils’ Pat Thormann and Rob Greenberg copped two events each as their team tied the Green Wave in nondivisional action.

Thormann won the 200 freestyle (2:12.84) and 100 backstroke (1:01.06). Greenberg won the 500 freestyle (5:51.00) and 100 breast stroke (1:14.94).

Girls swimming

LACEY 99, BARNEGAT 71: Led by two wins apiece from Leeanna Cass and Brianne Burke, the Lions bested the Bengals in Class B South.

Cass captured the 200 freestyle (2:12.56) and 50 freestyle (26.35). Burke took the 100 freestyle (58.83) and 100 breast stroke (1:19.53).

LONG BRANCH 92, SHORE 78: With Hannah Elliot winning two events, the Green Wave trimmed the Blue Devils in non-divisional action. Elliot captured the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Shore’s Helen Grossman won the 200 individual medley (2:24.17) and 500 freestyle (5:27.41).

Ice hockey

BRICK 9, CENTRAL 3: Brick’s Andrew Reiss recorded a hat-trick and assisted on five other goals, including two by David Kearns and the second of a pair by Brian Lange, as the No. 3 ranked Dragons (11-5-1) skated around the Goldena Eagles (5-7-2) in this nondivisional meeting.

The Brick victory was the 697th of Coach Bob Auriemma’s career, and the Dragons will bid for 698 on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. at the Ocean Ice Palace against No. 8 ranked Jackson Memorial.

RUMSON-FH 2, OCEAN 1: One game removed from scoring all six goals in 6-2 victory over No. 6 ranked Point Boro, Rumson-Fair Haven freshman Connor Deverin scored both for the Bulldogs (7-5-2, 4-4-2) in this Class B North victory over the No. 9 Spartans (12-3-3, 3-2-3).

Rumson’s Brendan Ban assisted on both Deverin goals while Sam Atkinson stopped 14 of 15 shots faced, allowing Ocean’s lone goal to John Walsh in the final minute of play.

MIDD. NORTH 2, HOWELL 1: After Khristian Acosta provided Middletown North a first-period lead with his eighth goal of the season, and Howell’s Anthony Gallichio tied the game in the second. Tom Terranova notched the eventual game-winner with under five minutes remaining in regulation to push the Lions (7-7-0, 6-4-0) past the No. 6-ranked Rebels (10-4-1, 5-4-0) in this Class A North battle.

Middletown North’s Hunter Dillon made 13 saves to preserve the victory while his counterpart, Bobby Dovernero, stopped 12 shots.

MANALAPAN 5, NEWTON 3: Parker Gaglione recorded a hat trick and distributed his 27th assist of the season on Mike Lisciandro’s 22nd goal of the year as Manalapan (10-5-2) skated past Newton (8-11-0) in this non-conference game.

The Brave’s Joe Barone stopped 24 shots to preserve the victory and John Fanizza added to Manalapan’s goal total with his fifth of the year.

TR SOUTH 51, JACKSON MEM. 46: Toms River South head coach Sarah Knight recorded her 100th career win as Maria Gregoria led the Indians with 14 points in this Class A South victory over the Jaguars.

MANALAPAN 58, HOWELL 50: Manalapan’s Samantha Meier led all scorers with 21 points and Kelly McNulty followed with 10 of her own as the Braves edged out the Rebels in this Class A North battle.

Howell’s Gabby led the Rebels in scoring with 20 points while Gianna Ciaciarelli also finished in double-figures with 12 points.

MATAWAN 54, OCEAN 21: Matawan’s Tracey Brereton led all scorers with 25 points and Janelle Long followed suit with 17 as the Huskies raced past the Spartans in this Class B North meeting.

WALL 52, FREEHOLD 32: Wall’s Ellen Dougherty led all scorers with 29 points and Sydney Darby followed suit with 11, including nine from beyond the arc, as the Knights (11-4) rode past the Colonials (3-8) in this Class B North game. Freehold’s Julia Spencer scored a team-high 15 points.

RARITAN 41, MONMOUTH 27: Raritan’s Katelyn Sire led all scorers with 16 points while Kayla (9) and Meghan Quinn (8) combind for 17 more as the Rockets flew past the Falcons in this Class A Central matchup. Monmouth’s Samara Coleman led the Falcons in scoring with 12 points and was followed by Ashley Rust and her 11 points.

RB CATHOLIC 43, SHORE 20: Red Bank Catholic’s Alex Barazotti lead all scored a game-high 18 points, all of which came from beyond the arc, as the Caseys defeated the Blue Devils in this Class A Central game. Emily Olsen led Shore in scoring with 11.
