Severna Park Volleyball: Hopeful Progression

SEVERNA PARK, Md. (WUSA 9) — Severna Park volleyball fell short at the 2013 state finals, but coach Tim Dunbar said the team’s goal is to excel this year.

“It’s not about the wins or losses,” Dunbar said. “It’s about doing the best you can.”

This year’s team selection was made on Aug. 15 and Dunbar said the team is retooling and figuring out who can play what position.

“When you have good talent, you always expect to do well,” Dunbar said.

He said the Falcons lost some players from last season, but still expects the team to play well.

“I expect the team to be competitive at the county and regional level,” Dunbar said. “We’ll see where we go from there.”

He said the team will be successful if it works together. Dunbar said the Falcons cannot get distracted and worry about what cannot be controlled.

“They have to put individual accolades aside and let the chips fall,” Dunbar said.

Severna Park’s first game is at 5:15 p.m., Sept. 9 at McDonogh School.
