Sexton High School athletic director Jim Davis has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal review, according to the Lansing School District.
Spokesman Bob Kolt confirmed this morning that Davis and his administrative assistant both were placed on leave Tuesday.
He said a review is underway but said further details were not available.
Superintendent Yvonne Camaal Canul declined to comment. Davis did not respond to an email from the Lansing State Journal Thursday.
While Davis is on leave, assistant principal Broderick Williams will serve as athletic director and Sexton football coach Dan Boggan will serve as assistant athletic director.
Davis, a longtime employee of the district, was appointed athletic director at Sexton last summer. He has previously served as a principal, deputy superintendent and most recently was director of student services.
David Panici, athletic director at Eastern High School, and Sexton’s Jarrod Beebe were laid off at the end of the 2012-13 school year last June. Everett High School athletic director Cindy Short died in a snowmobile accident a year ago. Panici retired. Beebe filed a union grievance, which is pending.
