Andre Brooks missed a perfect ballot by less than a point, but the Shreveporter still captured the Week 6 victory in The Times’ Prep Fantasy Football competition.
Brooks’ squad tallied 133.65 points and was led by last week’s top overall performer, Northwood running back Danny Delaney (35.1 points). Delaney collected three TDs and more than 170 yards against Woodlawn.
Keon Coleman of Benton finished second, 3.2 points behind Brooks. Brad Bland of Shreveport was third, 7.4 points back.
Tim Thompson of Bossier City finished seventh, but barely missed a perfect ballot and the Week 6 title. Thompson had the five top players, but chose Fair Park to defeat Benton. The Indians held a late two-score lead only to lose in overtime.
Bush also employed running backs Kolby Jackson (Minden, 17.2) and Tamerick Gilyard (Loyola, 14), receivers Shontraveen Ashley (Huntington, 15.5) and Javonte Woodard (Haughton, 14.2) and the Minden Crimson Tide (10-point bonus), who defeated Fair Park on Friday.
The victory earns Brooks a $32 debit card, a free pie at Strawn’s Eat Shops and an exemption into the 2014 Prep Fantasy Football Playoffs.
The 10 weekly winners, plus the next 22 cumulative scorers, qualify for the postseason bracket-style event. The overall champion collects a $500 gift certificate to Strawn’s.
