MURFREESBORO – Clif Matlock will return to the town of his college alma mater after resigning as teacher and boys soccer coach at Siegel to accept an administration position.
Matlock, 38, is leaving District 7-AAA to be an assistant principal at Cookeville High.
“It was a chance to go back to my college town,” Matlock said. “And it’s my wife’s hometown.
“I’ve been looking the last couple of years for an administrative position. This was too good of an opportunity for me to pass up.”
Matlock had been at Siegel since it opened 11 years ago. He was an assistant for the girls program with coach Eric Shelton the entire time. He was also a boys assistant the first eight years until Shelton gave up coaching the boys to spend more time with his family.
Siegel went 18-29-8 the past three years. A replacement has not been named.
