Despite Mother Nature’s best efforts, we are still trying to get soccer games in.
Unfortunately, we are not playing too many games at the complex. The complex is going on its second week of no games and we are hoping that things get better so we can get our first week of recreation league soccer in the books. The house league starts on Monday and I know there are a lot of excited players waiting to hit the pitch.
Cardinals’ all-state player, Brock Lisowe, has been selected to the annual Masonic All Star game this summer. The game will be played at UW-Whitewater and Brock will represent our community well. We should learn the girls roster shortly and we are hoping to have a player or two join Brock for the games.
Have you ever thought about playing soccer yourself? Are you a former player that wants to get back in the game or a parent that just wants to try the soccer experience? The Fond du Lac Soccer Association will be providing a recreation league. The games will be 8-on-8 and played on our smaller fields, we do not want to see anybody passing out from overexertion.
The games will be on Friday evenings and play starts on May 30. You have to register by May 23 and registration is available at fondysoccer.com and has a minimal fee of $30. It is a coed league and if you want to play with somebody just add it to your registration. Teams will be randomly selected unless you request to play with someone.
This coed league is a great opportunity to learn the game, get the rust off, or just for a fitness activity. Friday nights at the complex have just gotten more exciting. Call your friends and sign up today!
The Cardinal girls have been enjoying a pretty good season with an 8-3 record. It has been a little tough because games have been postponed and rescheduled and rescheduled again. Today’s game vs. Appleton North will be played but at an alternate location. Our neighbors to the North, the North Fond du Lac Orioles have graciously offered their field so we can get our game in. The game starts at 7 p.m. If you cannot attend, you can catch the game live on KFIZ.
It is time to sign up for Greg Winkler Soccer Camps, the forms are available on the fondysoccer.com site. Early deadline is due May 25, so sign up your soccer player today. Camps are a great way to learn and practice new skills as well as play with some other people. Another way to improve is to watch the game.
The Cardinal girls soccer team were able to attend a professional women’s soccer game in Chicago this past weekend. What a great opportunity for young women to see the game played at the professional level by other women. Girls need to see successful females in any profession, it was a great opportunity for our team. The Red Stars won the game and our players were treated to an entertaining post game meet and greet.
Keep on Kick’in.
