MOUNT ULLA, N.C. — The South Iredell Lady Vikings might have the best 1-2 punch in the North Piedmont Conference with Lekia Hall and Julia Scoles. The pair combined for 63 points in South Iredell’s 76-63 victory over West Rowan Wednesday night.
West Rowan started the game playing smart offensively, and the Falcons led 17-13 after the first quarter. From that point on, the game was firmly in South Iredell’s control. The Lady Vikings finished the second quarter on an incredible 14-1 run to take a 30-24 lead into the locker room.
Lekia Hall showed her skill in the third, scoring 16 of her 32 points in the quarter. Hall tacked on another six points in the fourth to get her second-half total to 22 points. Scoles led South Iredell’s rebounded with 14 total in the game, 11 on the defensive end of the floor. Scoles and Hall did damage at the charity stripe, too, going a combined 25-of-33 in the game for South Iredell.
South Iredell returns home for their conference opener against North Lincoln on Friday. West Rowan will host Central Cabarrus Friday at 6:30 pm.
