The South team completed a three-game sweep Sunday in the Indiana North-South Baseball Series, defeating the North squad 12-9. The win came after the South team swept a doubleheader on Saturday, winning 7-3 and 9-7 in those games. The series was held at McBride Stadium in Richmond, Indiana.
New Castle coach Brad King coached the South team to its weekend sweep, and IPFW-bound Trojans catcher Zak Kellogg was one of his players. Kellogg went a combined 0-for-4 in the three games.
The North side featured a heavier dose of East Central Indiana representation. Delta head coach Terry Summers, Jay County head coach Lea Selvey and Wapahani assistant coach Jason Dudley each served as assistants on the North coaching staff.
Wapahani’s Jacob Walters pitched for the North team, seeing a combined 21⁄3 innings of action. He pitched in both the second and third games and did not surrender a run. He walked one batter in the second game and did not allow a hit in either game.
Jay County’s Kyle Selvey also played for the North team, seeing action in all three games. He did not record a hit in seven at-bats but did score a run in the first game.
Blackford’s Scott Dodd also played for the North team, going a combined 0-for-6 in the series.
