St. Johns swept the team titles in the CAAC Red track and field meet on Wednesday night.
The Redwings boys outdistanced defnding champion Owosso, 173-91, while the girls edged DeWitt, 136-123.
Steven Linton won the 200 and 400 dash, Kalvin Butts took the discus, and the St. Johns boys won the 3,200, 1,600, and 800 relays.
Karrigan Smith won the 800 and 1,600 runs, Kayla Kraft triumphed in the 3,200 run and Ashley Terpening captured the shot put for the St. Johns girls.
CAAC GOLD AT CHARLOTTE: Mason narrowly topped both the Waverly boys and girls to sweep the team titles.
The Bulldog boys won 147-138, while the Bulldog girls’ margin was 121½-106.
Mason swept the distance events with Nathan Jones winning the 800, Paul Pioszak the 1,600 and Mason VanDyke the 3,200 run. Derrick Troxell triumphed in the 300 hurdles, and the Bulldog boys also took the 3,200 relay.
The Mason girls managed to take first without winning an event becasue the Bulldogs grabbed plenty of second and third places.
CMAC AT BATH: The Pewamo-Westphalia girls amassed 234¼ points to more than double runner-up Fowler’s 102½.
Kenzie Wieber won both the 100 dash and pole vault, Betsy Arens took the long jump and Brenna Wirth came in first in the 200 dash for the Pirate girls, who also won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays.
The boys meet was much closer with Saranac compiling 139 points to Laingsburg’s 125 and Pewamo-Westphalia’s 117½.
Brendan Klynstra won the 3,200 run, Nathan LaWarre triumphed in the 200 dash and the 3,…200 relay was also victorious for the Redskins.
