Stanley leading scorer Michee Alexander got in early foul trouble and the Lady Panthers never recovered in falling 54-44 to Lacassine on Tuesday night in the LHSAA Class B semifinals.
“We got some bad breaks tonight, and Michee had to sit the entire second quarter,” Stanley coach Cleve Craig said. “We tried to stretch the game out and actually tied it 26-all in the third quarter. But they have a good club and made a 4-0 run to get back in front.”
The Lady Panthers (41-1) advanced to the semifinals for the first time in school history.
“I thought we played hard and it was emotional afterward,” Craig said. “We played with passion and left it all out there on the court. I told the girls that losing hurts more than winning feels good. You have to learn how to lose too.”
