ST. GEORGE – The Desert Hills girls soccer team got back into the win column Tuesday evening with a second half surge to push past Cottonwood, 2-0.
The Thunder tallied two second-half goals to erase a sluggish first half and finish up preseason play on a positive note.
“I think that in the first half, we just didn’t quite come out to play, and it showed with the slow start,” DH head coach Shaley Allen said.
Allen said she spoke with her team during the intermission about making the most out of preseason and getting the most out of the games as Desert Hills prepares for its Region 9 opener against Cedar on Tuesday.
The Thunder responded.
Brenna Owen scored right out of the half in the 45th minute to get DH on the board, and teammate Brittany Terry added an insurance goal in the 60th minute. In the goal, Kaley Brooksby was solid as well, picking up her first shutout of the young season.
The Thunder (2-1-0) host Cedar on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
