Enka volleyball has taken the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge as a team, and in doing so the Sugar Jets called out the rest of their competition in the Mountain Athletic Conference’s 3-A division.
The Ice Bucket Challenge is a viral fundraiser for the ALS Association.
It had generated $22.9 million in donations as of Tuesday, compared to $1.9 million during the same time period (July 29 to Aug. 19) in 2013.
Individuals who take the challenge video it, then customarily nominate one or more individuals to follow in their footsteps. The Enka volleyball program was nominated by Sugar Jets’ coach Jennifer Kruk’s husband – Pisgah boys basketball coach Casey Kruk.

After completing the challenge, Jennifer Kruk and the Sugar Jets nominated the volleyball teams from Erwin, North Buncombe and Reynolds.
