It’s getting down to crunch time around the nation. Here are Score Predictor’s assessments for three of the biggest games this weekend.
In California, No. 9 St. John Bosco faces Centennial (Corona) in the Pac 5 Division final in Anaheim. On one side is Bosco QB Josh Rosen, recently named Rivals.com No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2015. On the other is the two-quarterback system used by Centiennial with senior Nate Ketteringham and junior Anthony Catalano. Also, injuries could impact the game as Centennial could be without leading rusher J.J. Taylor and receiver Greyson Bankhead.
In Virginia, two of the finalists in USA TODAY High School Sports’ Best Football Program contenst square off in the 6A South final as No. 12 Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach) faces Oscar Smith (Chesapeake). Fans have been waiting for this matchup for two years. It did not happen last year because Colonial Forge beat Ocean Lakes in the 6A South semifinals, but here it is. Ocean Lakes is unbeaten and has been dominant. Oscar Smith has won 12 in a row since loser to Booker T. Washington of Miami in the season opener.
In Tennessee, No. 14 Maryland meets Ravenwood (Brentwood) in the 6A championship game. Maryville, which recently had a 74-game winning streak, will be competing for its 15th TSSAA football title and 12th since 1998.
