GEORGETOWN – Junior guard Taylor Pritchett scored 33 points to lead No. 11 Sussex Central to a 69-39 victory over No. 22 A.I. du Pont in the DIAA Girls Basketball State Tournament.
Sussex Central (15-5) took command of the game in the second quarter when it outscored the Tigers 15-9 to take a 33-23 halftime lead. The Golden Knights pulled away with a 22-6 run in the third quarter.
Junior guard Jasmyn Hudson added 13 points for Sussex Central, which will travel to face No. 6 Concord in the second round on Thursday at 7 p.m. Two freshman guards paced A.I. du Pont (11-10), as Lauryn Griffin scored 14 points and Sydney MacDonald added 10.
WILMINGTON – Senior guard Kylie Shivery scored 15 points as No. 13 Charter downed No. 20 Polytech.No. 13 Charter of Wilmington 48, No. 20 Polytech 27:
The Force (16-5) rolled to a 21-11 halftime lead and extended their advantage in the second half. Junior Megan Waltz tallied 10 points for Charter, which will now visit No. 4 St. Elizabeth on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Senior Sarah Hillman led Polytech (9-12) with 14 points.
Concord tickets sold in advance only
Tickets for Concord’s second-round home game in the DIAA Boys Basketball State Tournament on Friday night will be sold in advance only. Tickets will be sold Thursday from 11:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m. in the school cafeteria, and after 2:15. On Friday, ticket sales will begin at 8 a.m. until they are sold out. Concord will play the winner of Wednesday’s Mount Pleasant-Hodgson game, and the winning team will receive its allotment of tickets after that game to sell at the winning school.
