GEORGETOWN – Sussex Tech came from behind with 20 points in the final quarter to defeat Caesar Rodney 41-25 in a Henlopen North game on Friday night.
The Ravens trailed 25-21 going into the fourth quarter but took the lead to stay on a 45-yard touchdown pass from Jamont Matthews to Travis Quillin. Patrick Griffin then scored on a 75-yard run and Justin Hill added a 2-yard touchdown run to give the Ravens some breathing room.
In the first half Kani Kane scored two first-half touchdowns for Sussex Tech and Griffin scored on a 70-yard pass from Hill.
Brandon Walsh scored two touchdowns for Caesar Rodney – on a 95-yard kickoff return and 2-yard run. Fito Louis added a 40-yard touchdown run and Brinon Lefevre posted a 2-yard scoring run.
Newark 44, Appoquinimink 15
NEWARK – Joe Burton rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns on just seven carries to lead Newark to a victory over Appoquinimink in a Blue Hen Flight A matchup.
Burton scored on runs of 28, 1 and 69 yards. Newark quarterback Ben Campbell went 8 for 15 for 150 yards and two touchdowns, firing scoring strikes of 27 yards to Peter Suski and 47 yards to James Bond. Suski made four catches for 77 yards. Bond also scored on an 85-yard kickoff return.
Ronald Tuck scored on a 42-yard run and Derek Thompson added a 5-yard run for Appoquinimink.
St. Georges 40, Dickinson 0
MILLTOWN – Gary Brightwell scored three touchdowns as St. Georges stayed unbeaten by blanking Dickinson in Flight B action.
Brightwell scored on 13-, 9- and 30-yard runs in the first half as the Hawks pulled out to a 33-0 lead. Tordell Kemp threw touchdown passes of 53 and 15 yards to Austin Warren, while Taronn Selby scored on a 33-yard run for the other St. Georges scores. The Hawks’ defense forced three turnovers.
