Sydney Wilcox pitched a no-hitter and was a walk away from a perfect game as Shiocton beat Auburndale 8-0 in a WIAA Division 3 regional softball game Thursday in Shiocton.
Wilcox struck out 11 batters and also finished 3-for-3 with a home run and two doubles. Kiana Williamson was also a force at the plate for Shiocton (15-3) with four hits, including a home run, and two RBI.
Shiocton hosts Iola-Scandinavia on Tuesday in a regional semifinal.

At Reedsville, the seventh-seeded Lions scored five runs in the fifth inning and one run in the sixth to rally from a 7-2 deficit to defeat the Panthers.
Kristen Woldt and Cheyenne Popp swung big bats for Brillion, coming up with five hits including three doubles and six runs batted in.

At Iola, winning pitcher Brianne Huettner struck out nine and also hit two home runs and drove in seven runs to lead the Thunderbirds.

At Weyauwega, the Indians scored the winning run against the Falcons in the sixth inning when Miranda Potratz scored on Brandi Dain’s sacrifice fly.
Potratz got into scoring position by singling with one out, stealing second and advancing to third on an error.
The Indians (11-10) went ahead 1-0 in the fourth on a one-out single by Potratz, a bunt by Dain and Jordan Rucks’ single to right.
Amherst made it interesting by scoring a run in the seventh on Kelsey Holderman’s run-scoring double that plated Kendra Dombrowski. The game ended when Dombrowski was thrown out attempting to steal third.
Akey pitched a complete game for Weyauwega-Fremont, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out six.
