Tiffany Williams' homer lifts Calvary past Many

Calvary’s Tiffany Williams blasted a home run and rang up 4 RBIs in the Lady Cavaliers’ 6-2 win over 2013 2A state quarterfinalist Many (13-6) on Tuesday afternoon.

Williams went 3-for-4 on the afternoon in support of Sarah Chamberlain (9-2), who pitched coach Tiffany Bruton’s club to a win over Evangel last week. Kenzie Glover added a double and Marissa Reed went 2-for-3 for Calvary (15-2), currently No. 1 in the LHSAA power ratings.

Ashley Lafitte picked up three of the No. 6 Lady Tigers’ four hits off Chamberlain. Caroline Settle absorbed the loss.

Byrd 15, Haughton 4: Shelby Spruiell pounded out five hits and Tia Timerding added a home run in Byrd’s District 1-5A win over the Lady Bucs. The Lady Jackets (13-8, 2-0) posted 11 runs in the fifth inning to put the game away. Emily Daniel had three hits and Tara Schuler two for Byrd. Anna Dies took the loss for Haughton (11-7).

Loyola 10, North Caddo 0: Caroline Vanchiere, Mattilyn Reeder and Kendyll Campbell each posted a pair of hits for the Lady Flyers in the win over the Lady Rebels.

Baseball

Lakeside 17, Red River 0: Luke Griffith had a double and a triple to lead Lakeside (10-6, 1-0) past the Bulldogs (3-10, 0-1). Cameron Gray, Chase Woodall and Thomas Lambert each added a pair of hits.

Benton 13, Huntington 0: Aaron Baker tossed a no-hitter and Jordan Shaffer hit a home run to lift the Tigers.

Ruston 7, Haughton 3: John Tomb and Seth Ryan each had two hits for the Bucs (8-10), while Cannon Brasuell and David Burkhalter went 3-for-3 for Ruston.

Parkway 6, North DeSoto 5: Demetrius McAtee, Hunter Knowles and Peyton Donaldson topped the Panthers (8-10) with two hits apiece in their win over the Griffins. Brad Thomas and Drennon Keen had doubles for North DeSoto.
