Mayville quadrangular: Led by Hope Kubicek’s four first-place finishes, the Cardinal girls finished first out of four teams Tuesday night.
Kubicek won the 100 hurdles (16.20), 300 hurdles (48.18), pole vault (9-feet) and triple jump (33-06). Amy Chen added firsts in the 100 and 200 with times of 13.16 and 27.65 while Taylor Mangan (400), Erica Wenninger (800), BoLyn Petroselli (3200), Brianna Huizenga (high jump), Chantal Danner (long jump) all added first-place finishes for Mayville. The Cardinals also took the 1600 and 3200 relays.
Laconia, who finished in second, was led by Hailey Isaac and Chanel Becker who took the 1600 and discus with a time of 5:52.53 and a toss of 100-03. The Spartans also won the 800 relay. Lomira’s Rachel Ries won the shot put (32-09.25) and WLA took the 400 relay.
Lomira was third while WLA finished in last.
On the boys’ side, WLA won with 116.5 points followed by Laconia (77), Mayville (55.5) and Lomira (21).
The Vikings were led by Josh Frey, Matthew tadych and Ben Wolff who each won two events. Frey took the 800 (2:11.84) and 1600 (4:56.55), Tadych the 110 and 300 hurdles (17.89, 44) and Wolff the shot put (43-11.75) and discus (111-02). Kav Krueger added a first in the long jump (18-07), James Huey won the 400 (55.48) and Mitchell Bilitz took the 3200 (10:22.56). WLA also took the 3200 relay.
Laconia’s Austin Flood won the 200 (23.88) and high jump (5-09) while Joe Ramsey won the triple jump (36-09). The Spartans took the 400 and 800 relay races.
Lomira and Mayville got wins from Jackson Ringle and Andrew Nothem, with Ringle taking the 100 (12.16) while Nothem won the pole vault (10-06). Lomira also won the1600 relay.
