Tualatin was in every set, but couldn’t find a way to close out the final points in a 22-25, 25-27, 25-21, 20-25 loss to St. Mary’s Tuesday night. Head coach Monica Anderson said her team’s serve receive made it difficult to find offensive rhythm.

1.) A very close match, each set going down to the wire. What did you think of your team’s performance?

“I think my team battled well, but we just had too many errors.”

2.) Were those errors more on the offensive or defensive end?

“I would say more offensive, including serve receive. You’ve got to give your offense a chance by having the pass go in a place that gives the setter some options.”

3.) Your team really played well during the third set. They were down six points and won the set by four. What were they doing so well during that run?

“They were communicating really well. They were celebrating. They were just in their groove and playing with confidence. It’s always tough to not let a few errors drag your confidence away. That’s the battle every high school team faces.”

4.) It looked like your blockers were getting more hands on the ball and that Grace Phillips really stepped up her game during that stretch.

“Oh yeah. And that pumps a team up for sure. If we can connect with our middles as well as our outside and our right side, then that’s just more options for us. Grace and Natalie (Anderson) were really connecting well.”

5.) How do yo you think Haley Howarth played on the outside?

“She played great. Haley always battles. She always goes home exhausted.”

6.) How would you rate your passing tonight?

“Our passing is what needs the most work.”

7.) What are you looking for as you finish the regular season?

“I know our last two matches are going to be fierce battles, just as every single match has been. There’s no easy games. If we are a team that plays with confidence, then I would put our money on us. We’ll see what happens.”

Tuesday’s loss drops to the Timeberwolves’ record to 5-9 in league play. We’ll see if Tualatin comes out with that confidence Thursday when they go to Sherwood to take on the Bowmen.
