Favorite sports memory: My favorite memory was the moment we walked out of the tunnel and looked up at our crowd that gathered to watch us at state. It still gives me the chills thinking about how the whole town of Spencer was all united in red, cheering “We Believe!”
Advice to an athlete: First, there are no small roles on a team. Whether you’re a starter or a practice player, your role is essential to the team’s success. Secondly, you must use every defeat as an opportunity to learn. You must use your failures as motivation to work harder to reach your goals.
Inspiration: My inspiration during high school sports has been my dad. He is the most mentally strong person I know. Seeing my father overcome cancer, I have learned that I can do anything I set my mind to.
College plans: University of Saint Francis in Joliet, Ill. for secondary education, English, and a minor in writing.
