Undefeated El Dorado gets past Parkway


The El Dorado Lady Wildcats made short work of Parkway in the opening round of Thursday’s Parkway New Year’s Tournament, sponsored by Bossier Federal Credit Union.

The Lady Wildcats (13-0) jumped out to a 32-8 first-quarter lead on their way to a 65-17 win. The Lady Panthers were held to just four points in the second half.

Winner’s of the Minden Holiday Classic prior to Christmas, El Dorado placed four players in double digits on Thursday despite missing two starters due to injury. Shannon O’Guinn led the way with 16 points, followed by Taylor McCool (14), Rickeya Martin (12) and Keyanna Smith (12).

El Dorado will play Bossier at 6 p.m. on Friday in one Parkway semifinal contest, while Green Oaks meets Plain Dealing at 4 p.m. in the other semi. The winners will advance to Saturday’s 6 p.m. championship game.

Bossier 57, Captain Shreve 42: Gabbie Mason tossed in 14 points and Tiffany Lynn added 10 to lead the Lady Bearkats in the Parkway Tournament opener. Aniah Jernigan with 15 points and Paris Coleman with 14 topped the Lady Gators. Bossier will play El Dorado at 6 p.m. Friday at Parkway, while Shreve will play Parkway at 2 p.m.

Benton 72, Byrd 62, OT: The Lady Tigers placed four players in double figures in the win over the Lady Jackets. Brandy Harris with 20 points led the way, followed by Gabby Jackson (18), Megan Fream (16) and Madi Sessions (16). Alexis Dean with 19 points, Amber Jackson with 15 and Chelsea Walker with 12 led Byrd.


Bossier 64, Neville 30: The Bearkats got 21 points from steady Devonte Hall and 18 from Kentrell Hardy in the easy win over the Tigers in their own Bossier Invitational Tournament. Neville was held to just 15 points through the first three quarters of play by the swarming Bossier (9-6) defense. Malik Hardy added for Bossier.

Plain Dealing 44, Green Oaks 30: Keldrick Carper’s 16 points helped sparked the Lions past short-handed Green Oaks in the Bossier Invitational. The Giants scored just one point in the first quarter of the contest.

Orr Academy 70, Airline 39: The Vikings ran into a buzz saw in their Bossier Invitational, playing one of the top teams in the Chicago, Ill., area. Austin Brannon and Noah Hildebrand scored 14 points apiece for Airline, while Orr was led by Tyquan Greer with 26 points and Armani Oysluy with 11. Orr converted 10 shots from behind the arc, including five by Greer in the contest.

Byrd 75, Fair Park 73 OT: The Jackets and the Indians played a thriller in the Bossier Invitational opener for both clubs on Thursday.
