IJAMSVILLE, Md. (WUSA 9) — After winning the 2013 Class 3A state championship, Urbana soccer coach Scott Schartner said he has high expectations for the upcoming season.

He said the team talks about wins, losses, and the championship early in the season.

“Another championship is still on the table if we do day-to-day work,” Schartner said.

Schartner said he encourages the team to perform as well as it can. He said he expects the team to grow throughout the season and reach its full potential.

“They have to focus on a day-to-day basis and make themselves better,” Schartner said.

This year, Schartner said the team will have three captains, two seniors and one junior. He said there has only been a junior captain one other time.

“They all have leaderships qualities and will have a huge impact on the team,” Schartner said.

He said the team is preparing for the three scrimmages scheduled over the next few weeks.

“We are working out all the kinks before the season starts,” Schartner said.

Urbana will play in the FCPS Tournament against Frederick at 2 p.m., Sept. 6 at Mount Saint Mary’s University.
