Two previously unranked teams barged into the Super 25 girls basketball rankings with impressive tournament performances. Ursuline Academy (Wilmington, Del.) defeated then No. 11 Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.) 55-49 in the Tina Thompson She Got Game Tournament in Washington, D.C., as Alyssa Irons had 19 points. The Raiders also beat Sussex Central (Georgetown) 69-53 as Adrianna Hahn had 28 points. With the wins, the 2-0 Raiders moved into No. 10 in the rankings.
McDonogh (Owings Mills, Md.) is our No. 25 team as it improved to 5-0 with a 43-37 defeat of Archbishop Wood (Warminster, Pa.) in the Beast of the East Showcase in Baltimore as Dajah Logan had 21 points.
Another big mover in the rankings was Neumann-Goretti (Philadelphia), which went from No. 5 to No. 2 with relatively easy wins against quality opponents. Ciani Cryor had 22 points in a 79-48 defeat of St. John’s (Washington, D.C.) in the She Got Game Classic and Sianni Martin had 10 points in a 43-32 defeat of Elizabeth Seton (Bladensburg, Md.) in the Beast of the East Showcase.
Two teams dropped out of the Super 25: No. 4 Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland) and No. 19 North Shore (Houston).
