The Cougars were in control from the opening kickoff against the Titans
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After struggling to pull out a victory last week against North Meck, Vance returned home to make a statement that last week was an anomaly. The Cougars hosted Hopewell, a team coming off its first conference victory of the season last week against Jay M. Robinson.
On the opening kickoff, Vance forced a fumble before John Adams scooped up the loose ball and scored, giving the Cougars a lightning-quick 7-0 lead. On Vance’s ensuing possession, Donnavan Spencer punched it in from three yards out, making the score 13-0 after a missed extra point.
Just before halftime, quarterback Omar Baker connected with Myles Dorn on a 12-yard touchdown pass, giving Vance a 32-0 halftime lead. As lightning and severe weather entered the area, both teams agreed to call the game at halftime, handing Vance the 32-0 win.
