VIDEO: Cameraman trampled on game-opening run out in California

Note to all prep cameramen: The tunnel run out might not be the best time to try and capture a team’s exuberance from a pseudo first-person vantage point.

As noted by our colleagues at For The Win, the recent regular season football finale between Arrowhead Christian Academy and Western Christian in Relands, Calif., featured one of the more unfortunate camera performances in recent sports history. While attempting to capture the Arrowhead run out, Los Angeles News Group reporter Ed Castro decided he would stand directly in front of the oncoming stampede.

That was a very poor choice after about 10 seconds, when Arrowhead’s number 56, Dante Teran, completely dump trucks Castro as he plows ahead.

Castro was apparently fine, because he filed this story from Arrowhead’s 65-24 victory. Still, something tells us that he won’t be engaging in more voyeuristic cinematography again anytime soon.
