Just in time for the holidays is one of the most inspiring comeback stories you’ll ever read.
Meet Dakota Young. As reported by Fox Sports and the Franklin County News, Young, a senior at Fairfield High School in Illinois, was a three-sport star until he suffered a partial amputation of his lower right leg less than four months ago following a devastating ATV rollover accident.
For most teens, that accident might have been a surefire end to a proud career. Not for Young. After he underwent surgery in late September, Young was determined to return to action. He made that happen on December 20, coming off the bench for Fairfield in a loss to Johnson City and drilling a three-pointer from the wing in the final minute.
Nothing but net … and redemption.
“At first, I was like any other person, where something bad happens and you automatically think the worst,” Young told FOX Sports. “But once I started doing some research, I realized that I can be just as good as I was before, playing sports and stuff, and nothing was going to be able to hold me back.”
It certainly hasn’t held him back. That’s something we can all be inspired by.
