High school football returned to Northeast Ohio Friday night, as squads from across the region opened their respective seasons.
In several games, points were scored at a “feverish” pace. Black River defeated
Western Reserve 72-57. In overtime. Nordonia topped Mayfield 36-35. In another high-scoring affair, Westlake edged North Ridgeville 34-33.
Defense was the hallmark of other games. In one of the night’s lowest-scoring games, Chardon defeated West Geauga 8-6.
