The Sioux Falls Christian volleyball team, second-ranked in Class A, outlasted West Central 22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-18 on Thursday at SFC to raise its record to 8-0.
Ellie Voss had 28 kills and Amy Hurley registered 53 set assists and six aces for Christian. Paige DeJong had 16 kills and thee blocks. Kortney Pollema had 17 digs, while Kelsey Pollema added 14 digs.
West Central (3-4) was led by Emma Habben’s 11 kills. Sydney Goertel had 18 digs and 12 set assists. Drue Miller added 16 assists, and Lauren Dolly had nine digs.
Christian is at McCook Central-Montrose on Tuesday in Montrose. The Trojans will take part in Saturday’s Lennox Invitational.
HURON DEF. BRANDON VALLEY 25-22, 25-20, 25-19 at Brandon – Samantha Zell had 10 kills, Lexi Eckmann nine and Jacey Hupp eight for the Tigers. Bailey Rathjen had 12 digs and Hupp 10. Eckmann had 16 set assists and Cameron Schroder 12. Eckmann had three blocks. Huron (2-2) is host to Watertown on Saturday. For BV (1-4), Hannah Paauw had 18 kills, Becca Koehn 24 set assists and Taylor Thorson 27 digs. Sommer West added 11 digs. The Lynx are host to Pierre on Saturday.
MADISON DEF. LENNOX 25-18, 25-14, 25-11 at Madison – Serena Hopf had seven kills, 10 digs, a solo block and two block assists for the Bulldogs. Valorie Nowstrop had 12 digs and Marisa Eimers 11. Morgan Skluzacek, Sydney Gustaf and Mandy Engbrecht each had three aces. Eimers had 15 set assists. Rud had two solo blocks. Madison (6-3, 2-2 Dakota XII Conference) is host to Vermillion on Monday. For Lennox (1-7, 1-5), McKenzie Weeldreyer had four kills and 10 digs, Taylor Weeldreyer 15 digs and Tatum Musser three aces and six set assists. The Orioles are host to the Lennox Invite on Saturday.
TEA AREA DEF DELL RAPIDS 25-19, 25-19, 24-26, 25-17 in Dell Rapids – For Tea, Morgan McKinney had seven aces and 39 assists. Ally Kacmarynski had 29 digs and 15 kills. For Dell Rapids, Tiffany Finkral had six kills and five aces. Brittany Kludt had five blocks. Tea (3-2) is at the Lennox Invitational on Saturday. Dell Rapid (3-4) visits Canton on Tuesday.
TRI-VALLEY DEF VERMILLION 20-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-21 in Vermillion – For Tri-Valley (4-2), Sammy Kasowski had 12 kills, eight blocks and eight digs. Emma Johnson had 10 kills and five blocks, while Sydney Hausmann had 17 assists and nine digs. For Vermillion (1-4), Rachel Finnegan had eight blocks and four aces. Melanie LeCates had 30 digs, and Kayla Stammer had 28 assists. Tri-Valley will host Beresford on Tuesday. Vermillion will travel to Madison on Monday.
LAKE PRESTON DEF DELL RAPIDS ST. MARY 25-22, 25-22, 25-9 in Lake Preston – Lake Preston was led by MaKayla Timm’s 15 digs. Tara Scheidt had 11 digs. Breanna Paul had 12 assists. For Dell Rapids St. Mary, Ally Mullaney had 14 kills, 12 blocks, 10 digs and two aces. Lindsey Wolles had 27 assists. Riley Wolles had eights blocks. Lake Preston (5-3) will host Iroquois on Monday. DAKOTA VALLEY DEF BERESFORD 25-21, 25-19, 25-20 in Beresford – Meredith Lammers had nine kills and seven digs for the top-ranked Class A Panthers. Shayla Johnson, Lindsey Smith and Elizabeth Lammers each had eight kills. Smith also had 30 assists and 11 digs. For Beresford, Morgan Klostergaard had seven kills and two blocks.
