Waupun’s softball team improved to 6-1 on the season after sweeping a non-conference doubleheader at Slinger on Saturday.

Catie Winning’s sacrifice fly in the sixth inning scored Kelsey Thompson with the go-ahead run in a 6-5 win in the opener. Thompson finished 3-for-4 and also drove in two runs for the Warriors, who withstood a five-run second inning by the Owls.

Tiffany Killam, Nicole Gerber and Emily Peterson each chipped in two hits in the win, while Killam struck out nine and allowed just five hits in the win.

Killam also picked up the victory in the nightcap as Waupun collected a 5-2 win. She fanned five and surrendered just four hits and one walk in the complete-game effort.

Waupun scored all five runs in the first three innings en route to the win.
