We made it through the first week of high school basketball. And now that football has wrapped up, we’re excited over at KING 5 to ramp up our basketball coverage. Here are the top performers from Week 1, our American Family Insurance ALL-USA Performers of The Week.
F Bobby Moorehead, Stadium — His night was the only bright spot in Stadium’s 102-45 loss to Federal Way. He scored 32 of those 45 for the Tigers. Moorehead continued his stellar week on Friday, dropping 37 in a win over Foss.
G Viont’E Daniels, Federal Way — More impressive than his 28 points in that win over Stadium were his 11 steals — many of which led to buckets in transition. Daniels had 16 points against Davis (of Yakima) on Saturday.
G JaQuori McLaughlin, Peninsula — His season got off to a good start by committing to Washington on Nov. 29. McLaughlin showed why Lorenzo Romar offered him, scoring 31 points against Puyallup in the season opener. He had 19 and eight assists against Gig Harbor on Saturday.
W Dominic Green, Hazen — The Arizona State commit looks poised for a big season, averaging 24.3 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks through three games. Green’s best game last week came against Lindbergh, where he poured in 35 points, 17 rebounds, and five blocks. Hazen is 3-0.
G Shadeed Shabazz, Rainier Beach — One of three Vikings in double figures in their lone game last week (a 108-41 shellacking of Ingraham), Shabazz finished with 24 points. He made five three-pointers.
