WASHINGTON (WUSA 9) — Wakefield inched past Falls Church 26-25 on Friday night thanks to a fourth quarter comeback sparked by quarterback Riley Wilson. The Warriors were trailing 25-10 when Wilson connected with Justin Moore for an 18-yard touchdown pass that brought the score to 25-16.
A 5-yard touchdown run from Leon Young and a 34-yard field goal by kicker Ben Klein secured the Warriors’ victory.
Wakefield head coach Wayne Hogwood and Falls Church head coach Said Aziz played football together at Shenandoah University. The friendship added a new layer of competition to Friday’s matchup.
“We talk every week before every game … We always hope each other does well,” said Hogwood.
Wakefield will face Yorktown next week while Falls Church will travel to Alexandria to take on Mount Vernon.
