CHARLOTTE, N.C. — West Charlotte boys basketball opened its season in a big way Friday, defeating West Mecklenburg 86-65. The Lions controlled the game from the opening tip, outscoring the Hawks 50-27 in the first half.
Senior Isiah Blackmon shined on opening night, leading West Charlotte with 22 points and 14 rebounds in a stout double-double. Teammate Nakia Rivers had no problem scoring, putting up 17 points in the victory. Senior Simeon Carter pulled down 12 rebounds to go with his team-leading four blocks and eight points.
West Charlotte has a home game Monday, November 24 against Butler High School.
