Zach Gilles finished with three hits and three RBI and Nolan Baier drove in four runs as Chippewa Falls McDonell topped Ithaca 14-4 on Wednesday in a WIAA Division 4 state semifinal baseball game at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
The Macks (19-7) will face Lake Country Lutheran in Thursday’s state title game at 9 a.m.
McDonell collected 14 hits and used a four-run first inning and a five-run third and also took advantage of seven Ithaca (17-6) to take command.
Baier had a pair of RBI in the first on a double to right field. Gilles’ two-run single was the exclamation point for a Macks third inning that saw them collect four of their 14 total hits.
The Macks’ 10 stolen bases is tied for the fifth most in any division in tournament history and the fourth most in Division 4 tourney play.
All but three of McDonell’s runs were earned.
James Davis struck out three in the complete-game victory.

Lake Country Lutheran 13, Pittsville 2
Lake Country Lutheran pounded out 12 hits and swiped seven bases to back the stellar pitching of B.J. Sabol en route to a 13-2, six-inning victory over Pittsville in a WIAA Division 4 state semifinal baseball matchup.
The Lightning earned their 31st victory in as many tries to advance to Thursday’s championship game for the second straight season. It also marked the 20th time this season Lake Country Lutheran has needed fewer than the full seven innings to clinch a victory.
Lake Country Lutheran scored in every inning but the second and secured control with a four-run fourth inning that gave it an 8-0 advantage.
Jacob Budnik laced a two-run triple to highlight an inning that saw the Lighting collect three hits. The junior centerfielder finished with three hits and three RBI.
Sabol, a senior left-hander, struck out eight and allowed only three hits to improve to 13-0 on the season.
Pittsville (21-5) scored both of its runs in the fourth on Aron Masanz’s two-run double to center.
Wednesday’s start time was delayed over five hours because of rain.

Division 3 Oconto 5, Racine St. Catherine’s 4
Tanner Pillsbury’s two-out single to left field scored Cody Zahm in the top of the eighth inning and Oconto went on to the victory.
With two outs, Zahm walked and then stole second base. Pillsbury then singled and Zahm raced home with the lead run.
Grant Frazer, who pitched all eight innings for Oconto, struck out Danny Welch with a runner on second base in the bottom of the eighth inning to clinch the win for Oconto.
St. Catherine’s led 2-0 after two innings, but Oconto rallied for four runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 4-2 lead. The Angels then scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to make it 4-4.
The teams combined to make seven errors.

Wisconsin Heights 3, Mondovi 2
Marcus Caminiti pitched a two-hit complete game to lead Wisconsin Heights to a semifinal victory and a berth in the championship game against Oconto.
Caminiti struck out six and walked two.
Wisconsin Heights took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, scoring the first run on an error and the second run on a bases loaded walk. It made it 3-0 on a sacrifice fly by Carter Howard.
Mondovi’s two runs came in the sixth inning with a run scoring on a wild pitch and the second run scoring on a ground out to shortstop.
