WIAA boys basketball roundup: Erickson pilots Jets to regional final

Josh Erickson took control for the No. 1 seeded Roncalli boys basketball team on Friday as the Jets defeated visiting No. 8 Sturgeon Bay 58-38 in the WIAA Division 3 regional semifinal.

Roncalli (22-1) jumped out to an early 17-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back with Erickson finishing with a team-high 25 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Also in double figures for the Jets was Sam Dudek (14), including four 3-pointers.

Next up for Roncalli is Olympian Conference foe Wrightstown (14-9). Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight

Thomas Schwoerer scored a game-high 13 points for Valders (20-3) and teammate Zack Goedeke added 10 for the Vikings.

Valders returns to action tonight at 7 p.m. at home against No. 3 Luxemburg-Casco (13-10).

Lutheran trailed 44-38 with 1:28 remaining in the game but Iola was able to close out the contest from the free-throw line going 19-for-31.

Adam Schwede led the Lancers with a game-high 15 points while teammate Tanner Krueger added 10.
