Elias Nelsen took top honors in the 200 meter dash and Justin Kain did as well in the shot put to lead the Ripon boys track and field team to a second place finish at Tuesday’s WIAA Division 2 regional at North Fond du Lac high school.
Nelsen won the 200 in 22.65 seconds and Kain’s throw went 47 feet, nine inches. Trevor Robichaud double-qualifed in the throwing events, finishing in second place in the discus and third in the shot.
Evan Long and James Vander Galien finished in second and third place, respectively, in the 400 meters, Tyler Jennings took second place in the triple jump and Ben Reilly finished in third place in the long jump for the Tigers.
Aidan Schoff (300 hurdles) and Caleb Kasper (pole vault) both finished in fourth place to qualify for sectionals.
Ripons 800 and 1,600 meter relay teams both took first place, while the 400 meter relay team took second and the 3,200 meter relay team finished in third place.
Addy Baker blew past the competition in the 300 hurdles, taking first place with a time of 46.30 to lead the Ripon girls team to a fourth place finish.
Katelin Cunningham took second place in the 400 meters, Lauren Cook took third place in the triple jump and Taylor Beck finished in fourth place in the 800 meters for Ripon.
The Tigers 800 and 1,600 meter relay teams both finished in second place.
